Bluebells
Welcome to Year Four
Welcome to Year 4 Bluebells class! This is such an exciting and important year because we build on our new-found LKS2 skills learnt in year 3 and lay the foundations for our journey into UKS2. In English, we visit amazing places such as fairytale worlds and Stonehenge and learn lots of new grammar while also learning to write much more than we ever thought was possible! In maths, our times table skills are pushed to the limit as we prepare for the national times table tests in the summer term and in other subjects we learn everything from the gunpowder plot to learning to play the violin!

Homework
In Year 4, home learning is extremely important. Practicing our times tables is crucial to passing the summer test and children will be encouraged to use Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) at home at least 4 times a week. Reading at home is also vital, as it helps children foster a love of reading and improve their prosody in reading immensely. Please encourage your children to read at least 5 times a week for 15 minutes or more and please sign their reading record weekly to be checked by the year 4 staff on Fridays. Occasionally, other homework assignments will be set. Children have a homework book to complete this.
PE and Outdoor Learning
In Year 4, outdoor PE is on a Tuesday afternoon and indoor PE is on a Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your children have the full PE kit in school on both these days.
On alternate Wednesdays, the children will visit our Forest School or take part in gardening outside. On these days, please ensure your children are wearing older outdoor wear and sturdy outdoor shoes. Your class teacher will inform you of the specific timetable.
